'Kovai Express’, featuring talented, young singers was held on February 26, 2006, at Hindustan College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore


The show featured:

Harish Raghavendra: with some of his chartbusters from '7G Rainbow Colony', 'Bharathi', 'Autograph' and 'Sivakasi'.

Sujatha: a versatile singer and one of the leading female singers in Tamil filmdom, has to her credit songs from 'Arindum Ariyamalum', 'Aathi', 'Ghajni', 'Chandramukhi'.

Tippu; who has sung in 'Arul', 'Aathi', 'Aaru', 'Dhool', 'Chandramukhi', 'Ghillie', has several foot-tapping numbers to his credit.

Ranjith: a singer who has to his credit many chartbusters from movies like 'Totti Jeyaa', 'Arindhum Ariyamalum' and 'Raam'.

Malathi: the most sought after singer with a different voice from 'Thiruda Thirudi', 'Thirupaachi'.

Chinmayi: winner of a national award, has won acclaim for her songs in 'New', 'Kannthil Muthamittal' and 'Boys'.

Popular songs such as ‘Kodambakkam Area’, ‘Rangola’, ‘Chennai Senthamizh', ‘Kannathil Muthamittal’, ‘Suppose unnai Kadhalicha’, ‘Kadhal Vandhal’, ‘Aasai Aasai’, ‘Sakkarai Nilave’, ‘Konjam Neram’, have been sung on the show by the renowned singers. John Britto’s troupe performed trendy dances on stage for the latest hit songs.

The event also featured five top participants from Vijay’s popular stand-up comedy hunt show ‘Kalakkapovathu Champions’, namely Kovai Guna, Muthu Irulapandi, David, Kovia Ashok and Janakiraman, who performed ‘live’ for the audience.
